The Diplomatic Writing and Communications course is a collaborative effort between Debrett's, a long-standing authority on etiquette, and Thuso, an experienced international consultancy. Developed with guidance from GDP, E&P and OSG teams, this course is tailored for Commonwealth Secretariat professionals. 

This course covers the basics. For in-depth understanding of diplomatic etiquette, protocol and writing, always consult with the Events and Protocol Team or the appropriate point of contact.  

The course serves as a practical guide to: 

  1. Enhance daily diplomatic communication skills,  
  1. Focus on tasks commonly encountered by staff.  
  1. Improve effectiveness and professionalism of Commonwealth Secretariat employees.  
  1. Support the organisation’s overall mission and goals. 
  1. It is designed as a prerequisite for online training sessions, forming part of a hybrid learning approach.
